高强钢是彩涂产品的发展趋势之一，目前国外使用比较多的是屈服强度为350等级的彩涂钢板。生产这类强度的钢板通常有两种工艺，一是采用碳锰钢，在炼钢时采用C、Mn等强化元素，并利用强大的热轧、冷轧轧制力来生产相对较薄的高强彩涂钢板，像马钢等国内外全流程钢厂（矿石到成品）都采用这样的生产工艺。另一种方法就是通过降低热镀锌机组的退火温度，使材料没有完全退火，还部分保留轧硬态来提高强度，目前国内多数镀锌及彩涂厂是采用这个工艺，因为他们没有炼钢工序，在市场上购买轧硬卷或热轧板也没有相应的高强钢种。

高强度PCM彩涂钢板基材为高强度钢板，高强度钢板正面设有钝化层，钝化层上涂有底漆层，底漆层上涂有水性辊涂面漆层。采用高强度钢板生产PCM彩涂钢板，钢板的屈服强度YP≥400Mpa，抗拉强度TS≥450Mpa。如使用普通钢板生产，需要0.5mm以上厚度才能满足使用要求，而使用高强度钢板生产，0.4mm以下厚度就可达到同样的性能要求,从而可以降低冰箱的生产成本，具有强度高、不易变形等特点。钢板的表面上使用水性辊涂漆可以使生产过程环保化、表面硬度高，丰满度好。

一般工业建筑的设计使用年限为15-20年，马钢彩涂钢板在设计年限内是不需要更换的。马钢普通（PE）彩涂板的建筑，使用时间已经10年，到目前为止颜色、涂层等性能变化并不大，彩涂板完好无损。但如果采用一般的彩涂钢板，使用寿命通常为3-5年，甚至更短，在设计期内至少需要更换2次。

由于马钢彩涂板良好的实物质量，在市场上马钢彩涂板的价格比一般低价彩涂板贵几百元一吨，但是如果按一般彩涂板在设计使用年限内更换一次测算的话，使用马钢彩涂板的成本只是一般彩涂板的60％左右。由此推算马钢彩涂板的售价可以比一般彩涂板售价贵50%左右，这还不考虑其它影响，如对企业形象影响，更换维护时对生产影响等。
